Reaching Out To The Needies

During the bitterly cold winters of Delhi, particularly in the freezing January, when the entire city dons their sweaters, monkey caps and woolen jackets and mufflers with a hot cup of tea, there are a few underprivileged people who cannot afford even a blanket to protect themselves from the cold waves. On 8th January 2016, Phia Foundation extended its helping hand to the underprivileged people of Bhuapur slums who are also a part of its education programme, distributed blankets to them and other people residing in and around the slum. Phia Foundation’s vision is a society free from poverty, exclusion and discrimination and where all people live with justice and dignity. Phia not only wants to remove poverty and change the lives of people but also to help them survive and enable them to fight their battle of survival against the nature odds.

Phia distributed 350 blankets to the rag pickers families of Bhuapur slums. This was the first of its kind of work done by Phia apart from distributing relief materials during disasters and emergencies. This initiative was coordinated by our project coordinator Ms. Hemlata Rawat with support from other team members.

You can support our work for underprivileged people by donating to Phia Foundation. Like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/phiaindia and follow us on twitter @phiaindia
