Phia partnered with UNICEF in December 2015 on a climate resilience project which was extended for a second phase looking at a more intensive engagement with the State Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Kerala for a consultative process leading to effective translation of State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC) into on-ground action while being children and women-centered, which is UNICEF’s primary mandate. As a part of the ongoing project activities a two-days training program was organized by Phia’s partners – Thanal and CANSA – in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on 15 and 16 December 2017 on Women and Child Centric Planning for Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction with the support of UNICEF.
Through the training program, concepts of women and child-centric planning for climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction were introduced to Government and civil society Organisation (CSO) practitioners and policy makers with Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Nutrition and Education modules. These training modules were focused around the Climate Context – Risks and impact on WASH, Nutrition and Education in Kerala.
