Children’s day (also known as Bal Divas) in India is celebrated every year on 14th of November to increase the awareness of people towards the rights, care and education of children. Children are the key of success and development of the country as they would lead their country in different and new technological way. 14th of November is the birth date of the first Indian prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and is celebrated as Children’s Day. The deep love and fervour of Chacha Nehru towards the children is the big reason of celebrating the Children’s Day at his birthday anniversary.
This year on the occasion of Children’s day on 14th November 2016, an exposure visit for children of Jeevan Pathshala Kendra supported by Caritas in Madanpur Khadar and Jugnu Urban Education center in Bhowapur was organised by Phia Foundation. Around 95 children along with 2 parents and 7 Phia Foundation’s fellows and staff were part of this visit. This was the first outing for the children of these education centres. They were taken to science centre. The children were very excited about this educational visit to the science centre where they can experiment, learn with fun and will have exposure to practical. This will also help them to relate their school books with practical science.
They came to know about the inventions that took place from ancient time till date. They visited newly structured digital gallery to learn how various medium of communications work. They read history, did few experiments, and learned facts about science. They spent two and a half hours at the science centre and where later on taken to India Gate. They enjoyed playing games at India Gate Lawn followed by lunch. Later, they clicked selfies with the teachers. They enjoyed their visit thoroughly. Phia Foundation ensured their right to education along with play and recreation.
