Climate Adaptation Project With UNICEF India
Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim
Phia partnered with UNICEF on a climate adaptation project in December 2015 to assess State Action Plans on Climate Change (SAPCC) in 3 states, namely Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim. The project, which involved a series of consultations with state governments, concluded successfully in May 2016 and saw good participation from senior government functionaries across the 3 states.
This has now led to the project being extended for a second phase looking at a more intensive engagement with the State Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, and Kerala for a consultative process leading to effective translation of SAPCC’s into on-ground action while being children and women-centered which is UNICEF’s primary mandate. The project commenced in December 2016 and consultations have already commenced with the Govt. of Kerala to be followed by the other States.
