State Launch of Gram Swashashan Abhiyaan

Phia Foundation has partnered with Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI) on a programme that focuses on strengthening local self-governance and deepening democracy. The program covers 3 blocks in Jamtara, Gumla and West Singhbhum districts of Jharkhand. Phia is implementing the project in collaboration with its local partners - ASRA, Arouse Society, LJK and Samvad – to manage local self-governance systems and management of local resources for increased uptake of entitlements and services.

As part of this intervention Phia hosted an event to launch “Gram Swashashan Abhiyaan” on 16th March 2018 at Hotel KAV’s, Harmu Road, Ranchi to advocate for the cause of strengthening local self-governance to deepen democracy in the context of Jharkhand. This assumes greater significance and relevance following decentralisation of power, accountability and ownership over government programmes/schemes, making governance as collective vision and perspectives where everyone has a contribution in the governance and management of the landscape in keeping collective development agenda based on equality, fraternity, democratic and just society.
