Internet Saathi Program taking a leap in 4480 villages of Jharkhand

Phia Foundation in partnership with Tata Trusts, Google India and civil society partners (CSOs), is implementing a digital initiative programme called Internet Saathi programme since 2016 in the state of UP. The programme aims to address the gender disparity in internet use in rural India which puts women in rural India at further risk of getting marginalized in the society. It seeks to do so by empowering rural women and communities in digital literacy. The program is being upscaled in Jharkhand in 4480 villages and this commenced with a day’s orientation of the project team members that was organized by Phia on 6th July 2017 in Deoghar district. The purpose of this training was to provide the team a complete understanding on the program management. The entire coverage of 4480 would be reached in a phased manner. First phase includes 480 villages in one district with 160 internet saathis, while phase 2 would have another 1300 saathis reaching out to 4,000 villages in 12 districts.
